Vivace Earrings

Soap films present elegant saddle shapes. The catenoid, a surface of rotation, and the helicoid, a ruled surface made entirely of lines, have been known to mathematicians since the 18th century. The catenoid and helicoid are united in a one-parameter family of soap film surfaces. Our lively, ascending spirals are the halfway points.

These shapely 15 by 25mm earrings are 3D printed from 92.5% sterling silver, polished to a mirror-like luster on their outer surfaces, and hand-fitted with sterling silver fishhook ear wires and barrel-style backings. A black velvet storage bag is included.
